"Honey, the neighbors would like to come visit tonight"
Infilling, building developments on land not developed or underdeveloped, has been a hot trend in the San Jose area (and many urban areas) for a while now. But I believe I just saw the development that will take an "infill prize," if such an award ever exists.
Click on this link to a Google Map. Take a look... see the field toward the left and continues on toward the top of the screen? That is where the development is going in.
Let's take a look at what is around the new development. That road running north/south just to the left of the field? That's an interstate. Those buildings to the right of the field? They look a little like an office complex. Actually it is the Elmwood Correctional Facility.
Yep, your house could be sandwiched between the interstate and a jail. My guess is the prices will range from $600K-$800K, but we'll see. I will try and take pictures of the development and find out more information on the development. This has to be seen to be believed. Not helping in the marketing department for the home builder is the escape of three inmates from the prison last month. The jail is for minimum to moderate security inmates, but escapes tend to offset the "close to freeway, light rail and shopping" sales pitch.
