Happy birthday, little man!
A day late due to tons of work, but wanted to wish my oldest son a happy 3rd birthday! We had family over last night and had a very casual dinner, cake, and the presents opened. Low key, but he loved what he got.
Tomorrow is the day he and his friends get together at Chuck E Cheese to celebrate. His girlfriend will be there, and I have a feeeling I'm going to have to have the cooties talk with him soon if this continues to blossom. For a money saver, my wife isn't doing the formal party at CEC's, but we have coupons for meal deals with pizza, drinks, and tokens. She'll bring some cupcakes for all the kids, and that will be that. I think it's less than 10 kids, so it will end up saving quite a bit from what they normally charge for the parties. Plus, when he went to his little girlfriend's birthday party at CEC last month (yikes! an older woman to boot), there were a lot of no-shows which ended up costing the mom a significant amount.
Three years old. Wow. It was on the Saturday after Thanksgiving (my wife went into labor on Friday), so maybe there is something to the tale about turkey helping induce. There were a lot of other memorable things about the pregnancy: the trip to Hawaii when my wife was 5-months pregnant and our visit to the hospital when she was having labor pains there, closing on our new house the week before he was born (guys, believe the nesting instinct--it is very real and to be feared), the relief of having the first grandson on either side of the family (not that there was pressure, but you knew there was), and my wife graduating with her advanced degree and taking her licensing exam are among the many things that happened.
It doesn't seem that long ago that he looked like this...

Happy birthday! My wife and I are 5 months along w/ our first child. We found out Tuesday we're having a boy. Any plans for more kids?

Congrats and good luck!
We have a 6-month old boy as well. I've told my wife (and she agrees) that we aren't having any more kids unless I win the lottery (too bad I buy around one ticket a year) and can afford a full-time nanny.
